I’ve just spent the week with a great friend whose presence has refreshed, replenished and revitalised me. This friend, J, is one of the most artistically gifted people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. His myriad talents include floral design, landscaping, and much more – he is also a mean barista and currently working on a project which builds schools in Cambodia.
On top of that he’s just got it all sorted out – he is as intelligent and emotionally sensitive as anyone could be. He’s gifted at navigating the rocky waters of heart conversations and socially is a total sweetheart who charms to pieces everyone he meets. That he doesn’t realise any of this is just another facet of his delightfulness.
It was fun introducing him to friends old and new. It was nice and wistful catching up on my old haunts, and it was blissful to be with one who just gets me – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, creatively.
J is always playing at using his talents and I have worked with him on many occasions and been blown away by his eye for colour, texture, flow and form. This time he gifted our friends with his floral expertise and produced some beautiful centrepieces from a few roses and jungle finery for their 50th wedding anniversary. Arrangements that would be at home at high society weddings made our home feel ultra special and beautiful.
Some friends are just friends for ever, heartfully, soulfully so. It doesn’t matter how many continents and oceans are spread between us, it’s always the same when we meet up on the other side of the world as when we used to meet each morning at work. Easy.
